¡Hola mi familia y mis amigos!
Sounds like the girls had a pretty fun time in Utah for the EFY vacation. That's great, because it seems like with all the places we are in, our family is just on a spiritual high.
I've been hunting down all of Dad's converts and have found out that most of them have just moved away to distinct places, and also I met his ward mission leader from Miraflores, Lorena's dad. Her mom had her birthday on Wednesday, so we got together in Lorena's house and she told a bunch of stories of how her testimony always continues to grow no matter what. She has lost her eyesight since you've been here, but she remembered exactly what you looked like, Dad, and it was so amazing to meet them. Do you remember who Lety Reyes is? Or Ruth Cerda?
We've been teaching a youngish couple named Mauricio and Veronica basically since the beginning of the year here in Gómez Carreño. Last week we had, like, 4 breakthrough lessons in a row that were obviously results of fasting and prayer, and they now are preparing themselves for baptism more seriously and want to have their interviews this week. I feel like in a lot of instances, probably most, we as missionaries learn more than the investigators as the Spirit whispers to us during the visits we make. Standing in the Lord's shoes is an experience that brings me to my knees.
In one of the lessons, we had a Family Home Evening and one of our ward missionaries, Leslie, taught the lesson about recognizing the Spirit and how we receive revelation. It was so good for Mauricio and Veronica, because it helps them see how far they've come. I can see how the Spirit helps us to find those who the Lord is preparing for the gospel. For instance, we basically always ask everyone we talk with if they know anyone who could be interested in our message. Pretty much always, people say no, but it's ok. We were leaving a lesson yesterday and as I was walking out the door, the Spirit reminded me that we normally always ask that question, and we hadn't done it yet, so I turned around and asked them if they knew anyone who needed the gospel of Jesus Christ, and they told us about their neighbors who "seem to be interested in the Mormons." We then went and met them and they let us in happily and expressed how their father always liked to listen to the Mormons a long time ago, but he's long since passed away, and how they want to be a more unified family. We then had such a wonderful lesson with them in which we all felt the Spirit so softly and there was so much love in the room. It's impossible to deny that this is the Lord's work and He directs it. I love you all!
